The expectations of the Western middle classes are unsustainable given present levels of inequality, productivity, deindustrialisation. So the middle classes are being fast tracked for the next phase of globalisation. This involves downward mobility, enhanced competition for resources and recognition, lower standards of living and subordination to an increasingly heterogenous ruling class. To manage expectations, destabilise potential opposition and regulate conduct allround the regime has developed woke. Woke delegitimises or discredits the disfavoured. It helps regime clients (BIPOCs, LGBQTIs, feminists) compete for resources and destabilises those being targeted for downgrading. Socio-cultural demotion engenders a loss of esteem generally and suppresses the spirits and self-regard of those being degraded.
The rhetoric of woke is Vaudeville Marxism, radical politics worn as a skinsuit to disguise the instrumentalization of psycho-affective forces generated by the system itself...all done for the benefit of the regime and the plutocracy. Radical postures win support from the Left, while the camouflage of Left rhetoric by the woke enables the Right to misdirect its constituents into ineffective opposition to the extinct menace of Marxism.
