Behavioral Analysis 2025 just met at the Mall of America in Minnesota.
I presented a segment of my Holistic Contextual Credibility Assessment solution--gut feelings and subconscious decision-making. Your gut is the sum total of your experiences, in your own context--your culture, your education, the things you pay attention to, that you're interested in, your language(s), your religion, etc. And everyone's gut is different.
Each of us develops our gut based on our unique context. In that context, your gut--the subconscious decision-making process that feeds you a message to act or react without conscious thought--is likely to be useful.
But, outside your contextual competence--in a new country, culture, sub-culture--your gut is likely to feed you erroneous guidance. My presentation included case studies of incidents, from my experience, that illustrated how my gut led me astray when I lacked competence in the context. Also, case studies of my gut providing valuable guidance when I was contextually competent.
